Healing spaces can help build a better world.

Libélula exists to make space for personal healing while contributing to something larger: the protection of the rainforest, the support of Indigenous wisdom and the wellbeing of local communities. Reciprocity isn't an addition to what we do. It's part of why we exist.

The Land & Our Space

The land is at the heart of everything.

46 hectares of lush rainforest in the mountains. Waterfalls, rivers, wildlife, swimming holes and trails woven through the land. Secluded from the outside world, with no close neighbours or buildings in sight. The healing starts the moment you arrive.

A place shaped by nature.

Libélula is built into the rainforest, with spaces designed to bring people closer to nature, to each other and to themselves.

From the Maloca beneath the stars to the open-air kitchen, mountain-view yoga shala, natural pools, spa and forest cabins, everything here has been created to feel connected to the land around it.

Our story

We left everything to build this.

For Kene, making it happen meant letting go of what he had built in England. Everything had to be sold to put it all into the dream. So we decided to trust, and make it happen.

We wanted to build the kind of place we had searched for ourselves, spiritually open but grounded, and held by people who understand the responsibility of being trusted with someone else's vulnerability.

Why a dragonfly

Libélula means dragonfly in Spanish. A dragonfly begins its life underwater, then emerges, sheds its old form and becomes something completely different. That is where A Sanctuary for Metamorphosis came from.

Our offerings.

Our retreats are intentionally small, giving you space to slow down, connect and fully immerse yourself in the rainforest.

Throughout 2027, we'll be welcoming guests for a selection of retreats, each with its own focus and carefully held programme.

How we support you

The deeper the work, the more support it deserves.

  1. 01

    Before you decide

    You talk with one of our founders first. We don't take a deposit until we've spoken and know it's a fit.

  2. 02

    Before you arrive

    Every guest goes through a medical screening. If Libélula isn't right for you, we'll tell you. Your preparation starts two weeks before you arrive, with a call.

  3. 03

    In ceremony

    You're not left alone when things get difficult. A facilitator who knows your story is always available to you, through the whole night of each ceremony. In some ceremonies, bodywork is offered too.

  4. 04

    After you go home

    Integration continues after you return home, with a high level of support for your process.

Reciprocity

Healing is never one-directional.

Libélula was built around reciprocity, to the land, to the people who share their knowledge with us, and to the communities around us. Part of what every retreat creates goes back into the land, into local communities, and into projects that support the people and traditions we work alongside.

The Land

Protecting what we were blessed enough to find.

A big part of Libélula is protecting the rainforest around us - through reforestation, regenerative growing and creating habitat for wildlife. Our hope is to keep protecting more land as we grow.

Our Communities

Making sure the people around us benefit too.

Libélula creates work for local Costa Rican families, and we are building projects with communities around us that support things like clean water, education, food growing and practical skills.

Indigenous Wisdom

Supporting the people who carry these traditions.

We work directly with Indigenous families and knowledge carriers, making sure they are properly compensated for their time, knowledge and work. We also support projects that help preserve Indigenous languages, teachings and cultural knowledge for future generations.

Giving Back

Making space for people who might not otherwise have access.

Every retreat includes a place for someone who feels deeply called to the work but cannot afford it. We also plan to offer fully donation-based retreats, made possible through the people who have the abundance to pay for them.

A shared meal dressed with flowers

Every meal is made with your body in mind.

Organic, biodynamic and grown in harmony with the moon cycles, much of it on our own land. Recipes follow traditional dietary guidelines for plant medicine work. Clean, nourishing, simple.

We share meals at one long table. No one rushes. Some of the most meaningful conversations at Libélula happen at breakfast the morning after ceremony. After a long night lived together, sharing comes naturally. The masks are off, and people meet each other as they really are.
